Shadowbane might be coming back

Postby Talendar » Wed Mar 10, 2010 4:54 am

Hey, some of you old folks might remember from House Lok-ri, Morning server of Shadowbane. Just thought I would stop in to say hello and let you know that Shadowbane might be coming back.

http://www.shadowbaneemulator.com/page. ... hatIsSBEmu

House Lok-ri will likely not be making a showing as the guild activity has slowed to a crawl but myself and a many other familiar faces from the old SB times are already following and helping with the rebuild process where they hope to have a closed beta test of the new servers within several months.

Is it true that the server will be powered by Cap on a bicycle and Proto typing?

Blitz,

You can't deny all the fun we had in that game. Nothing else has come close.

It was fun, so was play dough, but once play dough stopped being fun i didn't continually try and bring it back into style... The game simply cannot compete on any level. Shitty programming that will never be repaired. I was still sb.exe'ing up until my last day on the game. It may have had the worst launch ever in an mmo, and honestly it was just as cookie cutter as wow is now. Difference is WoW has top of the line programmers and backing. To be honest, UO was the most fun i have ever had gaming, followed closely by wow.

They even have any prototype videos showing they've accomplished anything yet?

Blitz,

I didnt say the game was great, programmed well, or supported well.

I was talking about the fun of playing a game where you could kill anyone (including GMs), almost anywhere. Where you could tear down any structure excluding three NPC towns. Where gear was something you had an NPC roll for you instead of going after PvE content.

PvP was the whole point. I miss that focus.

The beta (or maybe pre-beta, alpha?) test server was up for a few days according to one of my old SB buddies from Death.

They already tested the login server and had people build a total of over 1000 characters and then a few days ago they had a world server up for an early early alpha test. You could only log in and run around and chat. No powers or combat setup yet but very impressive they have gotten that far.

Sounds like a long way off. That's the easy stuff.
